You are all
It is to us this word of salvation has been sent. Others failed to recognize Jesus, condemned him and proved the prophets right.
God raised Jesus from the dead. After this he appeared for many times to his disciples. They are now his witnesses. This is good news! Count your blessings that you have heard this good news.
This is the first day of the rest of your life!
On this day I am reborn. You are my son, on this day I have begotten you. What do you want me to do for you? Of course, God offers this to “his son.” Is that Jesus? Is that the king of Israel? Is that maybe even me? Or all three?
Rejoice with fear and trembling, and serve the Lord.
Jesus comforts. His arms around me in my fever, his eyes gentle holding my gaze, I am for once, not afraid. Do not let your heart be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me.
Where could I go if I lost my home? Where will I go when I lose my life? Do I dare to eat a peach? Do I dare believe in what I cannot see, will not see, must not see until I’m shown? In my Father’s house are many mansions, and YES, I go there to prepare a place for you.
You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies?
I am the way and the truth and the life.
You have no idea how comforting these words are to me.
Oh, yes, I do, David.
No one comes to the Father except through me.
And you do not play favorites, do you Jesus?
You are all my kids, my children, my firstborn, my loved ones. I will never feed you stones, and I will never leave you. Come, drink my milk. Grow. Eat my bread. Grow. Be alive where you are, on the good earth. Be a Christian hedonist if you want to call it that. Find joy in your obedience, let me lead you, let the flowers I have planted in your life bloom. Everything belongs. You can’t think your way into heaven. I am the way …
… and the truth. And the life.
Yes.
